Most all of my work includes various mixtures of pigment-water dispersions and acrylic and urethane
binders made by Guerra Paint and Pigment.  I am drawn to these materials because they allow me to
take the traditional practice of making one’s own paint and bringing it into the technologically
advanced world of the 21st century.

What I like best about these paints is their variety and diversity in texture, opacity, color intensity
and sheen.  I have specifically chosen five of the many binders offered by Guerra Paint: glossy and
matte urethane and glossy, matte and opaque white acrylic. (Note: the most significant difference
between urethane and acrylic is that urethane will settle out dissolving the individual brush stroke).
There are endlessness possibilities of different paints to make depending on what binders you include
and their ratios, and how much of what colors of pigment is added.  Juxtaposing, layering and simply
relating different kinds of paints create the rich and detailed surface which distinguishes my work.
